A HERITAGE OF
INNOVATION
Welcome to Honda Heritage
Since 1959 the history of Honda in America is the story of Honda associates,
past and present, who challenged conventional thinking with new technologies
and products, to create new value for customers and society. That challenging
spirit continues today as Honda innovates for the future.
HONDA HISTORY
Guided by the words of our founder, Soichiro Honda, that the purpose of technology is to help people, Honda has continued to take on bold challenges, armed with one essential tool, the Power of Dreams.
Those dreams and the hard work to accomplish them, led Honda to become the best-selling motorcycle brand in the U.S. in 1963 only four years after coming to America and being the first Japanese and longest continually active non-domestic manufacturer to build products in the U.S., since 1979 with motorcycles and 1983 with cars.
Today Honda and Acura brand automobiles, Honda Powersports, Power Equipment, Marine and Honda Aircraft are mainstays of the American consumer market. Honda is also a significant employer and manufacturer with the company operating 18 major manufacturing facilities in North America, along with R&D, design, engineering and testing facilities.
